Relationship Therapy

HRelationship Therapy Irelandow can I save my Relationship?

If this is the question you are asking yourself at the moment, or indeed if you’re asking friends, family and colleagues, then perhaps you would benefit from some relationship support in the form of relationship therapy or marriage guidance sessions, or a couples support group / workshop.

I offer 1 and 1.5 hour counselling sessions for couples as well as private half and full day workshops.  I work with Imago Relationship Therapy as my guiding theory and technique as I have found this process both magical and enlightening on a personal and professional level.

What is Imago Therapy?

The main tool of Imago Relationship Therapy is a dialogue technique which is prescriptive  at first, but gradually becomes relaxed and playful as time goes on and the steps become ingrained. The various dialogues provide a way of learning more about yourself and your partner, as well as the problems that keep you apart, so that you can better understand your relationship and begin to work together to improve it in a way that serves you both.

Above all, Imago Relationship Therapy is a SAFE way to explore and understand your relationship – and not just your romantic relationship, as the theory applies to all of your close relationships.  It can also help you to hold a mirror up to your own self in order to better understand who YOU are and how your past experiences have either held you back or pushed you forwards.

So if you are asking questions like:

  • Should I get a divorce?
  • Should we stay together for the children?
  • How do I save my relationship, or my marriage?
  • How can I forgive my partner?
  • Should I marry?
  • Can we resolve the issue of whether to have children?
  • How can we move on after an argument?
  • Why do we both get so angry with one another?
  • How do you heal a broken heart by staying together?
  • How can we move ahead despite our disagreements?

Then Imago couples therapy sessions or a couples workshop could help!

I will generally encourage you to commit to 6-12 sessions (depending on the issues presented), as an initial commitment to one another. You then may decide to continue with the techniques in your own time at home. Alternatively, you may still benefit from the guidance and want to commit to more sessions.  Sessions are usually 1 hour online, and 1.5 hours face to face.

Imago can also be a useful technique between friends, colleagues, teachers and students, and anyone else in close relationship. It is used as far afield as Palestine and I have used the technique myself in a Togolese prison to help resolve conflict and promote understanding between different groups.  Nowadays, its use in helping to resolve political and religious conflicts is becoming more and more important.

To find out more about how Imago may be able to help you, please contact me.  If we have already confirmed and agreed a time by email or text message (written agreement), I will require you to pay for your session upfront due to my experience with last minute cancellations in the past.  Once you have booked and paid for the session, my time is reserved for you.  Note that payments are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable as I have to organise my time around this and other clients in advance, so please fully commit to attending before you pay!
